Revenge is best served cold -- and old

Oklahoma State has waited more than half a century for revenge. Will the Cowboys get it?
OSU faces Bradley in a Friday college basketball game at the HoopTV Las Vegas Invitational. The teams haven't met since 1958, when the Braves beat the Cowboys 57-43 in Peoria, Ill.
Arlen Clark was OSU's high scorer in that game with 15 points. Jerry Adair and Eddie Sutton scored 10 each.
OSU and Bradley share plenty of history because they used to be in the Missouri Valley Conference together. They met 17 times, all from 1949-58, and Bradley leads the all-time series, 9-8.
Don't expect to see a throwback score in the throwback game. Only three times in series history have the Cowboys and Braves scored 70 or more points. I think it's fair to assume that the 80-point barrier will be cracked in a revenge game that was 51 years in the making.

Tulsa World sports writer Jimmie Tramel is a former class president at Locust Grove High School. He graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern State University with a journalism degree and, while attending college, was sports editor of the Pryor Daily Times. He joined the Tulsa World on Oct. 17, 1989, the same day an earthquake struck the World Series. He is the OSU basketball beat writer and a columnist and feature writer during football season. In 2007, he wrote a book about Oklahoma State football with former Cowboy coach Pat Jones.
