Richetti in the House

The mail over the weekend brought an interesting package with a DVD from ESPN.
On the DVD was the first episode of the ESPNU reality show "Summer House" featuring incoming Oklahoma State freshman defensive end Richetti Jones, the prize recruit of the Cowboys recruiting class last winter. It was good to see Richetti moving around with no pain in the first episode. When I talked with him at the Independence Bowl last December, he was still on crutches after surgery for a hip injury that curtailed his senior season at Dallas Lincoln High School.
He said then he would ready when practice started in August. If the 30-minute initial episode of Summer House was any indication, Richetti will be full speed and 100 percent ready when OSU opens practice Thursday.
I won't spoil the episode for those of you who want to see it. The show debuts Tuesday at 8 p.m. on ESPNU (Cox digital cable 253 in Tulsa). I'm not a big reality show fan, but Richetti's participation with five other incoming college football freshmen kept my attention. My wife, Jennifer, watched the sneak preview DVD with me and she gave the show a thumb's up.
For those who watch the show Tuesday night, I'd like to hear your comments about it.
Of course, I'd like to hear Richetti's thoughts about his participation in this show. But coach Mike Gundy's ironclad policy that first-year players cannot speak to the media means we won't hear Richetti's side of the story until next spring. Which gets a thumb's down from me, my wife and several others.
