Myron Roderick was one of the greatest coaches in any sport in the history of Oklahoma.
He coached a national championship team when he was 23-years-old. He won seven national championships in 13 years.
As a wrestler, he was 42-2 and won three national championship.
Roderick was a winner by every definition of the word.
Roderick, a legendary figure in Oklahoma State sports, has died at 77.
He was one of the greatest wrestling coaches in the history of the sport.
He later took over the United State Wrestling Federation and pushed to build the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater.
He was also OSU’s athletic director 1983-90. During those seven years OSU won 30 Big Eight championships and four national titles.
In other words, success always surrounded Roderick.
He will be missed by far more than the OSU community. He is a legendary figure in United States wrestling and sports in Oklahoma.
He will be missed by those of us who looked at him as one of the greats because he truly was.

Thank you, John Klien, for the wonderful tribute to a bigger than life man, Myron Roderick. Our coaching world would be a better place if more would follow his example.
