Security isn't so Bad

Much has been made of airline travel since the latest terror threat upped the security level at airports to their highest level.
I'm not one of those people that enjoy airline travel. It is a necessary evil of my profession.
So, when we had to make plans for the recent PGA Championship in Chicago there was actually some discussion about driving to Medinah.
That idea got tossed aside and we went ahead with plans to fly just one week after the security level had been upped.
The result was very encouraging. The wait in Tulsa was about five minutes.
Now, here's the shocker. The waiting time at Chciago's O'Hare Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, was less than five minutes to get through security.
What makes it even more amazing was that our quick run through security at O'Hare came on a Monday morning, the busiest time of any week at a major airport.
The same can be said of Las Vegas' airport. Earlier this summer, we went to the airport early because our wait in security the previous year had been about 45 minutes.
This summer it was less than 10 minutes. Plus, we were screened with one of the new machines that hits you with a puff of air.
I'm happy for all of the added security. I don't mind the extra time to make sure I'm safe.
However, it is especially nice to know that the TSA is working to improve the system and it is apparently working.
That isn't always true of the government. Usually, government has a tendency to do worse over time. However, in the case of our airports, the security folks have obviously been working hard to improve the situation.
My recent trips would indicate things are going pretty smooth even with the new security regulations.
