Seeking a greener pasture -- and say what???

I've got no problem with a kid seeking a greener pasture if he thinks his school is no longer the right place for him.

Jordan Clarkson's coach got fired. He sought and was granted a release. This sort of thing happens all the time.

But a quote from Clarkson's father really jumped out at me in Eric Bailey's story in today's Tulsa World. Said the dad, "The way the public sounded off on message boards and things like that, he can't be comfortable (at Tulsa)."

Good luck to TU. Good luck to the kid. But he'll need better luck trying to find a new school where anonymous fans post only rational statements on message boards.

Tulsa World sports writer Jimmie Tramel is a former class president at Locust Grove High School. He graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern State University with a journalism degree and, while attending college, was sports editor of the Pryor Daily Times. He joined the Tulsa World on Oct. 17, 1989, the same day an earthquake struck the World Series. He is the OSU basketball beat writer and a columnist and feature writer during football season. In 2007, he wrote a book about Oklahoma State football with former Cowboy coach Pat Jones.
