Shock Gets a Jolt

The Tulsa Shock did not win the WNBA lottery to get the No. 1 pick and that is awful news for the future of the franchise.
There are no players out there, outside of Maya Moore, who would have an immediate and dramatic impact on a team as Moore.
So, the Shock is probably doomed to more bad basketball, smaller crowds and a shaky future.
Shock coach Nolan Richardson will literally need to pull off some miracles just to make Tulsa competitive.
Without Moore, that is not likely. It is especially not likely if the Shock decides to draft a local player just because she is local as it did last year.
The Shock needs real players, difference makers. That does not seem likely anytime in the near future.
So, the news that the Shock had lost out on a chance to get a difference maker had to be devastating news in the Tulsa Shock offices this week.
And, it puts the future of the team in doubt because it needs some success, not likely without Moore, in the immediate future.
