Slim Pickings?

Gator bait? It's not Arkansas, but the guy with the rope.
AP

This week's games seem more difficult than usual to handicap; and usually, they're next to impossible.

Readers of this space know that when it comes to picking, going against the obvious is week in and week out one of our most successful tactics.

This weekend, the strongest concensus pick appears to be OU to flick aside Nebraska like so much lint.

So Nebraska plus points has to go on our list.

Florida isn't the kind of team that can muscle Arkansas; we'll take Nutt over the Gator whiner any day of the week.

We're looking through the ice and snow at these three.

1. Denver minus 3 over Seattle.

2. Nebraska plus 4 with OU.

3. Arkansas plus two and a half with Florida.

Boy, Pick, I'd love to go head-to-head with you on that Arkie-Gator bash. I'll take Fla and lay the 2 1/2. Any thoughts on some non-monetary stakes?

I like a resurgent Seattle team at Denver, whose is starting a new QB. The weather favors Denver, but Hasselbeck and Alexander are better than Cutler and Bell.

OU/Neb is a tough one, but I still like the Sooner defense in this game. Nebbish is battling some injuries on the OL, which doesn't bode well vs this Sooner D.

Injuries are also a concern for Florida, so I like the Hogs str8 up there. In the end, it wouldn't surprise me if I was wrong on all three. Tough games as the picker pointed out,

WG: Just dug out of my driveway. Yeah, I'll take Ark plus two and a half against those sissies. You're in another state......what's a healthy wagering item that could aid mankind. A book?

Dug outa mine this morning...you know, older guys shouldn't be doing this. Aren't the Boy Scouts suppose to come around and aid grumpy, older guys with ready money? Oh, the bet. Sure, a book'll work. Or perhaps a Borders cert? Make it easy on yourself ;)

Would you folks please go ahead and pick Boise. I count on you guys. Your OSU and Nebraska picks were better than Zoloft.

C'mon Walt, don't tease these guys...they're in mourning.
