We hit another huge one, Missouri over OU, no news there -- 18 of the last 19 against the point spread.

The big news is: could so many people possible get any dumber?

Even though we told you that Missouri would mop the floor with OU's guards EIGHT DAYS AGO, and even though Missouri was a FOUR POINT FAVORITE LAST NIGHT, the idiots are coming out of the woodwork, howling about the demise of the OU program.

If you have been looking for any of a hundred reasons why sports talk radio can be the pig sty of all media, the reaction to the OU game is it. Numerous pinhead callers have said OU suddenly stinks because the players are fighting over a girl friend. A host said he hoped it wouldn't get to the point where somebody went to the car for help.

Heaven help us all.

Please.

Do you people have no sense at all?

How can you watch so many games and know so little?

Listen chumps, here is the reality of it all. OU was never as good as the homers said. It has had no guards to speak of ALL YEAR. The all-star brothers have had no particularly expert shots ALL YEAR LONG. The competition has been lacking ALL YEAR LONG.

Losing at Missouri was not all that bad. Missouri is, as we promised, excellent at home, lousy on the road.

You want to know bad? Kansas was bad, losing at Tech by 50.

Guess what, people: Back in the glory days of the early season, OU LOST AT ARKANSAS!

This is not to say certain elements of the team don't need to wake up, coach among them. Willie Warren is one of the best offensive players in the country -- don't you think once every 15 minutes you could, like, run a play for him? If he doesn't get an offensive rebound, he seldom gets a shot.

Over-reaction is ammo of suckers.

Is OU a number one seed? Nah. Wasn't when it lost to pitiful Arkansas, either.

Is all lost?

Only on the radio.

OU probably obliterates OSU in Norman.

OU "probably" obliterates OSU in Norman?

Do you get a half point for "probably?" Will you be 18 1/2 out 20 then?

Is this how you back out of losses?

"I only said 'probably' so the loss doesn't count!" weeps the Picker.

Throw me a tantrum, Pick...like a five year old with his fingers crossed behind his back. Dance around chanting "Nah na nah na nah..." It's ok. It's just a matter of time.

MexiMike, I tried to tell you it was a lot harder to pick games before they were played.

You couldn't hit 18 of 19 replays.

I don't know the OU-OSU number yet. When I do, and if I like the game, I'll let you know.

Those automatically jumping on OSU plus six or seven are simply advised to take a deep breath and quit listening to the schmucks on the radio.

Right on cue, Pick. Right on cue.

Thanks for making my prediction become a reality.

Keyboard, you're right. Our Pokes stink. There's no way they should be in the tournament before Loyola or Sam Houston State or whomever the 16th seed is. But let's skip the sarcasm and get straight to the point. If you don't think that OSU is in the top 64 in the nation, you need to stop hanging out with Michael Phelps.

I don't care about all of the polital garbage that goes into the seeding with conference champions in mid-majors and whatnot.

Are they among college basketball's 64 best teams? Yes. Do they deserve to play? Yes.

Picker, you are a cheater and a liar. You stated that your "NEXT" winner would be on Wednesday. Then in the comments, you picked a Tuesday game. You got it right. If you had gotten it wrong, you could have pointed to the statement saying that your next winner was only on Wednesday, and the Tuesday pick did not count.

It's so obvious that you use your anonymity and the power of dominance over your readers by the shear volume of words you write, to claim the best of the past as your own, and to ignore the mistakes.

That's what bullies do.

Bullies are the most underestimated danger in society. All the kiddie terrorists in schools who let loose with automatic weapons were bullied by people just like Picker.

Being nice is not sucky, it's smart, and it's good for society.

Picker, you didn't get enough love when you were young.

Wow, MexiMike... and you were wondering about my spare time?
You spent your afternoon (and not during lunch time either) dissecting the word "probably"? That is just sad.

Even though I'm calling BS on the pickers "record" (because really, it is easy to pick the right games...just avoid the tough ones); I still enjoy reading his column.

It is entertaining, and the comments are pretty good too (except Mexicali's).

Lance, you created a 20 line poem about a Tulsa blog writer...I'm not sure if life gets any sadder or more pathetic than that.

Mexicali's? Really? That's all you've got? Wow. I can tell now how you come up with such original and clever poems. Keep it up!

Vern, even though most everybody says this year's tournament will be the most open ever, it's probably more closed, as it seems impossible that anybody outside a 1 or 2 seed could win.

If a person were to offer to take the 1 and 2 seeds against the field, it's doubtful anybody would much want the rest.

From the last 16 on it, it comes down to match-ups.

Trendy picks like Louisville seldom win.

Teams that can't rebound -- like Duke -- seldom win.

Who knows what is out west.

Michigan State is nothing special.

I might take NC and Pitt against the field, two against 63.

There's no rush. Except for OU to play better. I look for OU to beat OSU by 10.

MexiMike... it is too bad that the internet has not advanced to the point where clueless people such as yourself can actually HEAR the words others type so you can pick up on the sarcasm. If such technology had been in place, you would have known it was not a "poem" lauding the picker. (Do you know what it means to "laud" someone?)

I'm sorry you missed the point of my missive on the picker. It just flew right over your head. Try to know what is going on before you comment again.

Better luck next time.
Lance-a-lot (4 years ago)
PS... I just really like Mexicali's, a nod to one of my hometwon faves.

In all honesty, you are not worth a nickname Mikey. But feel free to try and make yourself feel better, I can take it.
MexiMike (4 years ago)
Lance, put down the the thesaurus. You aren't impressing anybody. If anything, you are securing your spot as "Tool of the Year." The bottom line is that whether it was sarcasm or not, you still actually took the time to write a poem about a local blogger. Try to justify it any way you'd like, but in the end you're still that guy. There isn't a clever quip in the world that can save you from that.

This is getting boring. I'm done here.

Keyboard, try to be positive every once in a while! It wasn't OSU's fault they got seeded 7th; it's just a horrible tie break system.

I understand you're being overall realistic and I can definitely appreciate that over a kool-aid drinker any day. But I think we will go into this tourney and dominate Iowa State. And although we do not match up well with OU, we still only lost by 4 in Norman. Every game is different--especially on a neutral court. Go Pokes!

You two break it up, what do you think this is, sports talk radio?

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
