So far, it's Cotton or Alamo for the Sooners

Apparently, it's never too early to project bowl matchups. I saw two of them this week. Neither is going to excite Oklahoma fans.

ESPN Pac-10 blogger Ted Miller puts the Sooners in the Alamo Bowl against Oregon State, writing: "Most see this showdown as David vs. Goliath. Curiously, not the Beavers. Game showcases a pair of talented sophomore quarterbacks in Oklahoma's Landry Jones and Oregon State's Ryan Katz."

If this really happens, the breakdown will go just like the one for the 2009 Sun Bowl... If the Sooners care enough, they'll win.

CollegeFootballNews.com predicts an OU-Arkansas Cotton Bowl at Jerry World. Which will leave fans demanding two things:

1, That this game be much more entertaining than the OU-Arkansas Cotton snooze-fest in 2002; and

2, That the Sooners play better than Oklahoma State in last year' Cotton, a game won by Ole Miss simply because its offense didn't stink quite as bad as OSU's.

Of all the people out of work, and this dill-headed Pac10 blogger gets "paid" to put out this dribble & fantasy? I could come u with some greater far-fetched fantasies of match-ups for bowl games. And before the season is even sniffing to begin? Give me a break!

Not one fall practice has been held.
Not one game for the new season has been played!
No way to predict how the Sooners will do. WE all have our opinions..dreams and thoughts. But we really have no idea of which direction the season will go until we reach game 5. Then OU can look at our win/loss record and see how how the team is doing as a team!

The blogger who put out this junk...has too much free time on his hands!

don't ya love it...the pac-10 whiners hate ou so much that they can't wait until the season starts to invent this crap. just more bulletin board material.....

Before we start complaining about this, we need to take a good hard look at our schedule. The schedule I see is pretty tough, and it's going to take a lot of work to improve on last year's record. The Florida State, @Cincy, and Texas games to start it all off, then we get to go play @A&M, @MizzOU, and @OsU. We got our work cut out for us for sure. I don't think that there is any team in the Big 12 that is clearly better than we are, but we play in some pretty hostile environments this year.

In 10 years or so when all pretense of "amateurism" will be gone we can look forward to OU playing some lower rung NFL team in March in the "Mediocre Money Bowl".
