Sooners Straying?

It seems that the main Stoops has veered off course from what made the Sooners great: recruiting close-in, namely, recruiting Texas.
Here's what comes from recruiting players from coasts and other faraway places: trouble. And not trouble for the foes, trouble for the home team.
Players from faraway places oftentimes feel lost.
Some move from major metro areas to the sticks as rehab projects.
Players far from home don't know of rivalries as do the nearby recruits: OU-OSU? Pass the video game.
Warning signs: Concerning recruits from Florida, Jersey or Vegas, call the tutors and chaperones.
Texas stinks. Texas A&M made one of the worst decisions in college football history in moving to the SEC and, like Missouri, will be heard from again in five years in some freaky minor bowl.
Go for the players in Texas.

Pick is right. OU needs to focus on three main areas to recruit: Texas, Texas and Texas.

What about Oklahoma? Did you see Haisten's article in the Sunday paper where he reported that OU in the past 5 years had signed a total of 17 players from Oklahoma high schools. The team that won the National Championship in 2000 had 12 starters from Oklahoma. Now they have about 15 on the whole team.

Lets see how this year pans out. Tulsa goes for local talent, and gets a lot of it. How do they stack up against OU? 30 point loss? Not knocking the local kids, but I think Stoops is trying to gather the best talent he can from regardless of where. Pick is right though, they get homesick, they are not used to Oklahoma culture (such as it is), and they do seem to have some academic issues. Lets see how this year pans out (as we have no choice) then complain, lol.

Why recruit anywhere BUT Texas?
Florida? Nevada? That's nutty.

Yeah. Because DeMarco Murray was such a head case and a disappointment.

OU needs to recruit mainly Texas and Oklahoma, with a few sprinkled in from other parts of the country. Josh Heupel was from far away and he didn't turn out too badly. Roy Williams was from NoCal and he didn't turn out too badly, either.

For the few you pointed out there are numerous more that bombed....

Didn't Heupel play decades ago?
Recruiting the usual morons from the coasts and jucos equals chaos.

The fewer JUCOs you recruit, the better off you are.

The last National Championship OU won was quarterbacked by a JUCO, from the fridged north. Recruiting locally has benefits, talent has more benefits. Lets see how this season goes....

Glenn is right.
Colhi, the last national championship OU won was a long, long time ago, and was made possible by the biggest QB flop in NFL history, Winkie-Dinkie for Bowden U.
