Sooners Versus Broncos

If OU loses to Texas, or otherwise doesn't make the final game, a rematch with Boise State seems likely.

Though in two weeks Fresno State could take out Boise in the Dean's List Bowl (just kidding).

The highlights from the first night of college football were hard to find. How'd you like that mighty SEC offense displayed by Spurrier? Junk.

The lefty quarterback for Boise is pretty good. But remember the wedding proposals? The High School Harold trick plays? OU would mop these pretenders off the field.

The helmet-wearing cheap-shot punching player from Oregon should be charged with a crime.

Nice team, Nike.

"The entry deadline is 11:59 p.m. each Wednesday. Compare your picks against the Picker's in Thursday's Tulsa World print edition and online here."

Well, I didn't see the Picker's picks online yesterday, nor do I see them today.  Are they so bad they have to be hidden?  Does the Picker get extra time to consult his oracles?  This reeks of underhandedness.

Yes, a rematch in the Fiesta Bowl is a possibility. I don't see Fresno taking out Boise State. However, in the past several years, Fresno has been an inconsistent team. If Fresno is playing well, they have a shot. However, the only team in the WAC that is top 25 material is Boise State. None of the other teams in the WAC even come close.

Steve Spurrier should have never left Florida for the Pros. South Carolina is a very difficult place to win at, especially considering that they have to compete against the likes of Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Alabama for football recruits. Even Knute Rockne couldn't lead South Carolina to an SEC East Divisional title.

The Boise-Oregon game was just plain ugly. Too many mistakes by both teams. Boise better hope one of their games doesn't come down to the FG kicking game. Oregon's QB is not very good. He looks at one WR the entire time until throwing it to him. That means that the safety can read the QB's eyes. Therefore, the safety has a much better chance of intercepting the pass.

If I were the head coach of Oregon, I would have thrown that face-punching Oregon RB off the team already.

Vermont, the picks are a couple of inches away, just to the right. The picks are made against the point spread. Last night, Spurrier and Boise covered.

Glenn, those Fresno Juco All Stars can be tough at home, despite the 15 to 20 personal fouls they seem to average per game. You're right, that Oregon Chicken should be charged with a crime.

So Picker, you're not giving Tulsa a chance to knock off Boise? Boise is dominant at home, but they come to Tulsa for the game. I think a more interesting scenario is if Tulsa beats both OU and BSU and go undefeated would they get into the NCG? Especially if those are the only loses for those teams. I know it is a long shot, but hey, stranger things have happened.

the oregon player is the one that was suckered
into stiking the boise player.   repeat after me: I will not grab the opposing player's jersey while shouting obsenties into his ear. IF DOUBTED, WATCH THE TAPE...(PARDON THE SHOUTING).

Oregon sucks, OU sucks, Stoops and his entire coaching staff should be looking for jobs right now.

Why not get right down to the nub of the problem; Yeah, Venables issuffering from the Peter Principle expounded beyond its wildestintended component, but Kevin Wilson is every bit as damaging.  Alwayspredictable to the 'nth' degree, Wilson failed to call a time out whenhis quarterback, Jones, who had been floundering before every snap, continued to show signs of desperate confusion with a fourth-and-goalat the two-foot line.  The gaffe resulted, as we all know, in agame-crucial five-yard delay of game penalty.  When asked after thegame why he had not burned one of Oklahoma's remaining 3 time outs, hesaid he had lost track of the clock!  He should have been fired on thespot.  Wilson is also responsible for bringing in James Patton, the offensiveline coach.  Patton is an old crony of Wilsons from his N'wstrn daysand, by all accounts from insider sources, is not getting the job doneon the o-line.  Both Wilson and Patton need to be reminded that they are no longer coaching at Northwestern.  Indeed, they shouldn't be coaching at Oklahoma.  Stoops needs to feel heat from the media but alas, the cheerleaders lead the cheers from the editor's desk in both OKC and Tulsa.

Prediction time:
1. Bradford and Gresham are done for the year.
2. Bradford WILL RETURN next season, but Gresham will opt for the NFL--a bad decision in my opinion.
3. Should Bradford not return, Stoops will move on after this season as his players have tuned him out. Has any one noticed how many players miss practice because of injuries (or they are not committed to hard work?)
4. After a miserable season, OU plays in the Independence Bowl where an uninspired Sooner team  loses to Troy by more than two touchdowns.

STOOPS CAN'T COACH DB,S OR  EVEN KNOW HOW TO RECRUIT THEM THESE GUYS CAN'T DEFEND A HIGH SCHOOL TEAM THEY ARE TERRIBLE TOO MANY TEXAS PLAYERS ON THIS TEAM 48 ON THE ROOSTER. THE OFFENSIVE LINE IS TERRIBLE. WE HAVE NEVER HAD GOOD COACHING SENCE MIKE STOOPS LEFT.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
