Sooners pick up late verbal from Coppell's Okotcha

Oklahoma has added a 17th verbal commitment to its 2011 recruiting class, according to several Internet websites.

Bennett Okotcha, a cornerback from Coppell, Texas, had been previously committed to Notre Dame before switching to OU. He had originally given a verbal commitment to Wisconsin.

Rivals network site SoonerScoop.com had reported previously that Okotcha took a last-minute visit to Norman last weekend, and both SoonersIllustrated.com and OUInsider.com reported Tuesday that Okotcha committed to OU. Verbal commitments are nonbinding. Prospects can sign letters of intent on Wednesday, National Signing Day.

Okotcha is rated as the No. 42 cornerback in the country by Scout.com and the No. 64 corner nationally by Rivals.com. Both rank Okotcha as a three-star prospect.
