Oklahoma senior Gabe Ikard will silently cheer for teams that wear orange in upcoming weeks.
The Sooners’ only hope for a Big 12 football championship in 2012 is to win the rest of their games while needing Kansas State to lose twice in its final four games.
Two of Kansas State’s final home games are against OU’s fiercest rivals: Oklahoma State (Saturday) and Texas (Dec. 1).
“Sometimes you have to root for the enemy,” Ikard said. “They can be our friend the next couple of weeks.”
The senior captain then quickly added, “We’re just worried about taking care of our game against Iowa State. That’s all we can focus on. The other stuff will take care of itself. We’ll see what happens.”
Iowa State has played everyone tough at home this season, including Kansas State.
“We still have a chance to play for a conference championship, depending on what happens,” Ikard said. “Our focus has shifted to Iowa State after a disappointing performance against Notre Dame.
“Now we have to worry about taking care of going to Ames. We have a tough conference game on the road. We have to correct our mistakes and get prepared for the Cyclones.”
