Sooners reach out to Jefferson, Jefferson goes on radio to stifle controversy

Tony Jefferson went on with John Harris of Yahoo! Sports Radio 1560 in Houston Thursday, two days after a WalterFootball.com report claimed he was being "trashed" for his former coaches for poor work ethic and practice habits.

Jefferson's response to that report follows:

"The funny thing is I just got off the phone with my coach. I guess those sites are pretty much BS. I knew my coaches would never say anything like that. One, it was not true. And two, the coaches aren't like that.

"I've put it all on the line for my team and my program, and I've had the best time of my life at the University of Oklahoma. My coach called me and set it straight. Everything that was said is obviously not true. I knew that. My coaches are good guys. We've always had a good relationship ever since I got there.

"For everyone out there in life, you come in as a freshman with a lack of work ethic at the University of Oklahoma, or a lack of work ethic anytime, you won't play there. That's not how they work. You've gotta work, and you've gotta do things good on the field and off.

"I guess the website blew up because of this. But I was glad to hear from my coach to set it straight."
