Southern Hills? Cedar Ridge? The winner is Tulsa

The 312 golfers in the U.S. Amateur are playing one stroke play round each at Southern Hills and Cedar Ridge.
Both courses are par 70. Which course was tougher Monday? Southern Hills.
The average score for 156 golfers at Southern Hills was 78.5. The averages score for 156 golfers at Cedar Ridge was 75.6.
Both courses surrendered almost the same amount of birdies, pars and bogeys -- a combined 2,529 at Southern Hills and 2,661 at Cedar Ridge.
But double bogeys -- and worse -- were more likely to blow up a card at Southern Hills.
Golfers produced 233 double bogeys and 43 scores worse than double bogey at Southern Hills. Compare that to 124 double bogeys and 23 scores worse than double bogey at Cedar Ridge.
The great thing is this isn't a competition between Southern Hills and Cedar Ridge. Declare Tulsa a winner because the city has many great golf courses, including the ones being trod upon by U.S. Amateur participants.
