Although some quarterbacks don't improve much between their junior and senior years, and although many of his receivers couldn't catch the sniffles, Landry Jones will come back faster a foot and harder to sack and more accurate than when he simply had to throw one up for star receiver Broyles.

Even though Mike Stoops was a flop at Arizona, and although his defenses were among the worst in the country, he is still a genius and will turn the OU program around overnight because if there's one thing kids love, it's being screamed at.

Even though junior college players are in junior college for a reason, and even though that reason is seldom a good one, and even though many junior college players from far away places lack local pride, and even though some junior college players prefer video games to class, the millions of juco players OU is suddenly recruiting are great students. And you won't even have to alert the campus cops.

Even though OU is expected to throw an "outsider" under a caravan of buses, two freight trains, and four Indy race cars, to make room for a Stoops, the coach will move on for reasons of his own.

With the hype machine operating around the clock, OU will once again be overrated in the pre-season.

...OU will once again be overrated in the pre-season.

And their fans countinue to buy the hype....

Hey, would you rather have David Ash? ... or maybe Clint Chelf?

No way.

But let's not sugarcoat the problems visible to all but the family.

When you put it like that it sounds bad. Not good for an OU kool aid drinker like myself.

Picker, don't forget to send the TW sports staff a link to your blog so you can have more "told you so" ammo next fall. You're the only one over there that isn't lost in the crimson fog emanating from the Switzer Center.

Nobody seems to want to figure this out: If Landry Jones is the answer for 2012, what was the question? Basic sports jounalism appears to be a lost art, given over to rank gossip and shoptalk on radio talkshows.

Brilliant and hilarious around-and-through-the-back-door criticism. I'm embarrassed to admit I was midway through the second paragraph before I realized where you were going.

I see what you did there, Pickman.

And you're right. Ten minutes after I posted that OU fans, after hearing that Quandry was staying, would be talking MNC hype for next year, Dean said on the Animal that OU should be preseason top 5.

When I read the title to you piece, I thought you were gonna comment on Weed's incredible 400 yard, 4 TD passing performance to bring oSu from behind for the win when Stanford stuffed our run game.

Make your reservations for the Holiday Bowl now, Sooner fans!

Holiday Bowl? You're a cockeyed optimist. Word has it that OU will be a shoe-in for the first Jimmy Dean Sausage Bowl to be held the second week in December in beautiful downtown Moline, Iowa.

Well, I was going to say the Ore-Ida Tater Tot Bowl in Sandusky, OH. . but I was trying to be realistic. . .

I also notice you failed to mention Big Game Bob is undefeated in Jimmy Dean Sausage Bowls (formally the Atwoods Discount Overalls Bowl).

Hater.

It take real balls to make a prediction like these. You really went out on a limb here! man this is amazing. you have incredible insight. Thank God for you Picker. You keep us all grounded! Stoops couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag. Landry had the worse stats in the ncaa. And the million juco's (okay really just three signed...but millions really is a jab that stings) will suck, just like Josh heupel, because he was a juco for a reason! you nailed it!

Sittler's column kind of puts OU/OSU's recent season in perspective. Responsibility starts at the top. Can JC guide OU to the national stage in the current day and time? If OU took on Boise State, TCU, Utah regularly how would they do?

Josh Heupel was a JUCO transfer. So was Torrence Marshall.
