Steele or Silly Putty?
Published: 7/9/2012 4:06 PM
Last Modified: 7/9/2012 4:06 PM

Phil Steele has become a so-called college football authority. He's quoted far, near and wide.

Here's why: He is a self-promoter.

Last year this guy had OU, Notre Dame, Boise State and the Texas A&M Aggies of all people among his top ten. He had Alabama to defeat OU in the national title game. Who didn't have Alabama to win it all.

This time he has OU and Florida State to play for the title.

Steele seems to love OU more than the Sports Animals in OKC, and figures to be on their show lots.

Florida State-OU, talk about a laugh riot.

Two to beat him: LSU versus USC.

Alabama Vs the Big 12 winner, could be OU, Tex or OSU.

I would not leave out TCU and W Virginia. Not sure they join the Big 12 in 2012 or 2013.

Captian Terrific - Neither schools has proven itself on a regular basis against the level of competition they will face in the Big 12. WVU lost alot of experience due to graduation too. Both start in the Big 12 ths season.

USC will not win the PAC 12. The SEC remains in a class by itself. Unless a Big 12 team runs the table, it is as likely next year as it was last year that two SEC teams, one with one loss, will play for the national championship. Remember that the hated BCS system is still in place for this coming season.

Steele is an OU homer/former beat writer. He knows that picking OU will sell magazines to the gullable fans....

TCU and W Virginia have no defenses.
This isn't the same TCU team that stood up to OU.
What did this team give up a game last year, 50?
West Va is the most overrated ever, a running qb with zero d.

Hootie, Phil Steele has Florida State beating OU in the national title game. While unlikely, it isn't too much of a stretch to pick OU and Florida State in the national title game, since both teams are likely to be ranked in the top 5 in the pre-season.
