Here are the top five chokers from an eventful last weekend.

Honorable mention: St. Louis Cardinal fans who cheered wildly for McGwire; the San Diego field goal kicker. Forgiveness is one thing. Going bonkers over a cheater is another. But then maybe McGwire is right, maybe steriods didn't help him hit all those 600-foot homers. Who hired the SD field goal kicker?

5. Wade Phillips, Cowboy coach: He should have been given his shuffling papers after the Minnie nightmare. His sad-sack posture would wipe the painted smile off a clown.

4. Romo: Noodle arm, Tony Turnover when it counts.

3. Philip Rivers, SD quarterback: Trash talks, trashes game plans.
If he has never won a big one by now, what's to say he will.

2. Jerry Jones, Cowboy owner: Who hired all those losers?

1. Norv Turner, SD coach: Has never won a thing. Chose to play Tomlinson over the K-State guy. Chose to run at the strength of the Jet defense. One of the worst coaching performances ever.

Jerry Jones.... one brilliant move after another.  Roy Williams caught fewer passes this year than the number of trade picks given away to get him.  The appeal of Wade Phillips is obvious: makes ol' Jerry feel smart and athletic.  I'd love to know what Andy Reed thought while watching the Vikings violate the Cowgirls.

Just like only the NC coach could keep Michael Jordan fom scoring 20 points a game only Norm Turner could figure out how to lose to a vastly inferior team. The Cowboys were dominated on the line of scrimmage. Makes you wonder how large the gap is between "good " NFC teams like Dallas and Philidelphia and the Vikings. Roy Williams is due for a $9.5 million bonus for doing nothing but showing up in play-offs. Jerry Jones may know how to make money but he's brainless when it comes to spending it.

As usual, the picker can't see beyond 5 minutes ago. Nate Kaeding is the All-Pro kicker, not the AFC rep, but the 1 kicker on the AP all-pro team, he had an awful day, period. Wade Phillip's winning % is stellar, over .650 in a league based on parity.... And Ladainian Tomlinson has stunk all year, avg 3.2 yards/carry. Turner dumb if he plays him, are you watching Sproles?

"4. Romo: Noodle arm, Tony Turnover when it counts."

Did it not count last week against the Eagles? Mighty short memory you have there, Pick. I'm no Dallas fan but I'd say that his lack of success had more to do with Minnesota's defensive front constantly being in his face.

If I were at Busch Stadium, I would've given Mac a standing boo.

Nate Kaeding made 32 of 35 FGs during the regular season. Bad games happen to FG kickers. However, it all starts at the top with Norv Turner.

The following tweet sums up my thoughts on Wade Phillips, Chan Gailey, and Norv Turner: "RT @ Why do some NFL teams recycle bad coaches? Did they not learn anything from Tomlin, Ryan, and Caldwell hires?" Wade was fired by two different NFL teams, the Broncs and the Bills. Chan was fired by an NFL team and a college team (Dallas and Georgia Tech). Norv was fired by two different NFL teams, Washington and Oakland. How Dallas, Buffalo, and SD hired these guys is beyond me.

Mr. Picker, if both Wade and Norv are such bad coaches, why did you pick SD to blow out the Jets and Dallas to upset Minny? BTW, The Jets have the top-ranked defense in the NFL.

Glenn, throw in Shanahan with the rest of the overrated pack. Without Elway, he's below average.

They recycle lousy coaches because no great college coach in his right mind would subject himself to the abuse from lamebrain owners and spoiled players.

You're saying you like the Jets this week? As a rule, games are more difficult to pick before the kickoffs.

So Pick, was/is Pete Carroll not a great college coach?? You make all these blanket statements that dont really apply. Ask anyone in the football business and they will tell Shanahan is a great football coach... I guess if you say he was only successful due to Elway, you open up a whole new can: Bill Walsh(montana and Young) John Madden(Stabler) Tom Landry(Staubach), Chuck Noll (Bradshaw)... Pretty sure all these guys were pretty good coaches but certainly would not have had the record they had without the aforementioned QB's. C'mon man. Besides, without Terrell Davis, the Broncos still haven't won Super Bowl.
