Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops announced during his Tuesday night radio show that true freshman Taylor McNamara will miss the remainder of the season after having shoulder surgery.
McNamara didn't have a reception this season. He played in the season opener against UTEP and started against Florida A&M.
McNamara, who is from San Diego, will seek a medical redshirt, which would allow him to keep four years of eligibility.
The tight end position hasn't been used much this season with the additional playing time of fullback Trey Millard.
Tight end Brannon Green has three catches, including a touchdown reception in the season opener against UTEP while Geneo Grissom hasn't caught a pass this season.
