Stoops and the NFL a topic again

A prediction courtesy of the Bleacher Report: "At least one Stoops brother will not be back next year at his current head coaching job."

"I'm not thinking Bob Stoops gets run out of town," writes the Web site's Mitch Wilson. "He's more likely to go on to greener pastures."

I don't know, Mitch. There are a few things working in Oklahoma's favor here...

1. Stoops' three kids are still of middle/elementary-school age, and uprooting them from the only home they've known would be a killer.

2. The longer Stoops stays, the tighter his bond with athletic director Joe Castiglione.

3. Stoops isn't leaving OU for another college job, so by "greener pastures" you must mean the NFL. And the last time I checked, the NFL, like the NBA, isn't in the market for college coaches currently.

That could change. No, that will change, especially if Pete Carroll has success when he returns to the NFL. I believe Stoops will give pro ball a shot some day. I just don't think it will be next year.

By the way, here are Stoops' latest statements on the subject, after being asked during a recent appearance on the Dan Patrick Show:

"You know how it is, everybody wants to project the future and you just never know when you feel you need to change. But I really enjoy and love what I'm doing right now...

"I think as much as anything, time changes things. Sometimes you feel it's time for something different, the age of your family the age of your kids or how long you've been at a certain place. So I don't know if that'll ever happen to me or not. But I couldn't be more excited or happy with the people I work with here."

By 'greener pastures', do they mean a shade more money to an already very wealthy man with not nearly the same job security, control over your players, and loss of ICON status??? Doesnt sound greener to me. Maybe hard for the Tulsa area people to admit but what better college football job is there than OU? (dont even think USC)
