Stoops keeping it loose

Since none of us have actually seen Oklahoma's linemen block stronger, Oklahoma's wide receivers catch better, and Oklahoma's kickers aim straighter this month, we have to take the Sooners for their word when they claim they'll be better in 2010 than '09.

Or maybe it's not even what they're saying, but how they're saying it. Specifically, it's the relaxed confidence that Bob Stoops seems to exude in nearly every public setting.

Take this exchange from Tuesday's Dan Patrick Show...

Patrick: "Have you ever said, 'Y'know, Landry, between you and me, let's lose the 'stache.'"

Stoops: "No. It worked really well for him last year. We're kinda going with it. Hopefully it's a little more improved with a year more maturity. We'll see. The guys have been kind of evaluating it in practice here lately."

This one's even better...

Patrick: "Mack Brown said if you gave him a red car, he wouldn't drive it. If I gave you a burnt orange car..."

Stoops: "I mean, really, who would? Do you see any of those out on the road?"

Patrick, after breaking up: "But let's say it's an orange Ferrari."

Stoops: "Still, you gotta admit, that color doesn't go with a lot. And you don't see it out a lot. You see a lot of red cars."
