Summer Bummer?
Published: 5/24/2010 5:41 PM

Here's what's good: The new baseball park is terrific. As revealed here after the first half of the first WNBA game, coach Nolan is a genius.

Here's what makes for a long summer.

The NBA season takes forever to get to the same old, same old.

Get a favorite team that is decent, otherwise baseball is hard to watch until the playoffs.

Golf? Name two people who just finished in the top ten of the once-important Byron Nelson. Golf is about whether or not Tiger will make a cut, and how much Elin will ask.

As regards the World Cup, the over/under each game is two and a half, we'll take under.

Sharapova seems to have outgrown tennis.

Hurry football: The most critical college season in years is due.

OU: Doesn't figure to be much better than last year. Why? Not enough manly running. The spread is dead.

OSU: Has Houston as a role model? Great tailbacks used as gimmicks?
Would anybody good hire Gundy as a head coach?

TU: Wicked schedule. Depth an issue.

Will it be a season to win or change?

My gosh Pick, how much longer are you going to play this broken record? You've already been proven wrong so many times it isn't even funny anymore. How can you breathe with your head buried so deep in the sand?

How is he wrong on the OSU comment? I couldn't agree more.

He's sadly right about TU. I hope we win 5 games.

Would 8-3 be considered a successful year for OU?

Would 7-5 be a successful year for OSU?

Would 6-6 be successful for TU?

These could be optimistic slants on all three.

If this year is a lot like last year, is it time for investors to revolt?

FG, how will Hunter be used as a gimmick? He will lead the conference in all-purpose yards...hardly a gimmick.

Houston as a role model? Their defense, no. Their number one rated offense in the country? Yes.

Gundy being hired elsewhere? Who knows? He's only been here 5 years.

Pick, do your math. OU can't finish 8-3. Also, OSU will win 8 games. The non-conference is easy enough to go 4-0. After that they only need to beat Baylor, K-State, KU, and either A&M, Tech, or Nebraska (conceding losses to OU and Texas). That's not too difficult.

There's something about dining on fish 'n chips with a pint at the local "Irish/English" bar at 8am Saturday surrounded by World Cup fans that I find intriging. Perhaps by 10am I'll get it...:)

Who wins the World Cup is less relevant than who wins the WNBA Title this season.

Glenn616, the only place in the entire world the World Cup is less relevant than ANYTHING is in the US. It astonishes me how Americans can't get behind the world's most popular and most played sport. And why? Because it's "boring?" It's sad to me that our attention spans have been reduced to that of a four year old. It is a great sport and the World Cup oozes patriotism. It is the only event I have ever been to where you don't timidly whisper your national anthem, you scream it.
