Summer speculation

Summer officially arrives this afternoon. Don't know if he has been dodging rain drops or an early heat wave down in Texas, but Dallas Morning News writer Chip Brown revealed his preseason Big 12 predictions in the Dallas paper this morning.
Brown is high – very high – on Oklahoma State's hopes this fall.
He believes the Cowboys will be in the mix for the Big 12 title and a possible BCS Bowl berth.
Brown's bottom line: "This program has serious momentum after pounding Nebraska last season and beating Alabama in the Independence Bowl. Road games at Georgia, Troy, Texas A&M, Nebraska and OU will be daunting, but the Cowboys have lots of fearless, young talent."
His prediction: 10-2 record, losses at Nebraska and Oklahoma. The Oklahoma game decides the Big 12 South title.
I have two months before my predictions become public knowledge via the Tulsa World College Football Preview Section. My current thoughts are all over the map.
Fire away OSU fans. Let's hear your football forecast for this fall.

To me, its pretty straight-forward. OSU's fortunes this fall will depend on how the defense responds under their new defensive coordinator and how our young, thin defensive line plays.

Only serious injuries will slow down the offense much. I look for a BIG year from Dantrell Savage and good thinks again from Bobby Reid and Adarius Bowman.

Still, tough road schedule with GU, NU, OU & A&M on the road. Regular season record, 8-4, finishing 3rd or 4th in the Big 12 South, good bowl game beating a tough opponent.

Thanks!

My fall football forecast: If OSU indeed contends for a Big 12 title and BCS Bowl berth, Chip Brown would be the only man under the sun who predicted correctly. And in my opinion, that is the reason for his " bold prediction;" to be the only one right. Slim chance that OSU will be that stong of a contender, in my opinion. I think they are vastly improved over last year, but due to that tough schedule, 8-4 regular season, and a down-to-the-wire bowl victory (Kris, I assure i did not "cut and paste" your prediction).

I read that article the other day. At first, I thought you have to be kidding me. Although his prediction is highly unlikely considering OSU's road struggles over the last 2 years, it is possible. They were in every game down to the end except for Texas last year. With a few breaks and without the defensive meltdowns it could have happened last year. I think 7-5 or 8-4 is where it will end up but hope that I am wrong and it is much better than that.

I love the "optimism" from Chip Brown which I hope is foresight.

As die-hard OSU fans, we always believe before the start of the season, things will be far improved. No exception with this season, other then it truly seems different. There is a lot of "young" talent on this team with more to fill the cupborads with incoming Fresh class.

National writers & those outside the Big 12, particularly West Coast media, will not give OSU the credit, until the rightfully "win" games they typically didn't win in the past. That really is the bottom line.

As Kris perfectly stated below, our fortunes will really fall on the Defense this year. (Legitimately, last year the cost 2 games K-State & A&M).

Offense will "humm" like a finely tuned classic car engine. Huge potential here!!!

Vegas#1OkState fan:

OSU fans and coaches hope the humming offense won't be like the '57 Belvedere that recently came out of the ground here in T-town recently!

I doubt that will be the case. Any rust on the offense will be knocked off by the second day of preseason practice.

The defense....well, that's another story that will be addressed countless times.
