NORMAN – It's the second quarter, and TCU is starting to show some signs of life on offense.
The Horned Frogs just converted a crucial third-and-9 off their own goal line, and now it seems they're getting their running game going.
That should be no surprise. During the week, the Sooners said they expected a heavy dose of ball control offense, highlighted by a physical pounding running game.
Just listen to the words of strongside linebacker Keenan Clayton, who only last season converted to defensive back.
"We haven't seen a whole lot of pounding like they're going to do. I ain't gonna say it's going to be easy, because it's not. It's going to be a challenge, and we're going to have to play ball. Because if not, we're going to have the same results we had back in '05.
"The last couple games I've been out on the edge a little bit. I ain't really been in there with the linemen. I'm going to take a beating. I know I'm going to feel it after this game. I know I'm going to be sore. But that's what I signed up to do. It's going to be fun."
Clayton may have been expecting a pounding, but he just ended TCU's best possession when he stripped a fumble at the end of the Horned Frogs' best offensive play, a 21-yard run by Joseph Turner.
It's 21-3, and the Sooners look ready to take over that No. 1 spot.
