TU Doesn't Shoot and Scores

After turning in another lousy year of basketball, the TU athletic director went begging for the NIT for losers and was turned down.

TU then turned down two more also-ran tournaments, suggesting that it would rather watch the real games on the tube than lose to a loser.

Choosing to shut it down for the season, refusing to play any more, what does that make TU?

One of the tournaments TU turned down was an event it had won!

It is said the more practice the better. Offhand, you might assume that if practice hasn't worked in six months, it probably won't work now.

The money in the lower level loser tournaments -- 140 basketball teams are involved in post season play -- isn't reason to keep going.

So good for TU. A nobody on the upswing, fine, keep playing. A formerly decent team on a slide, forget about it.

Now, as concerns the local regional tournament: It should come up about 2,000 short of a sellout, not terrible, as the tickets are expensive.

Several ESPN pinheads have tabbed as an upset candidate Oakland over Texas. Yeah, well, how much? Texas, a four seed and mad about it, will stomp, crush, pulverise, mutilate and punish Oakland by a double-figure margin. Texas starts a guard who can barely hit the rim, standing directly under it. Playing four on five against quality is tough. But against Oakland, it's a cinch.

Vegas has a good coach and tough players and is a legit threat to KU Sunday.

TU...Welcome to also-ran Basketball Tourneys...

It's been sickening watching the destruction of TU basketball. Time for a new coach or an AD who wants to see TU athletics succeed.

Hey Pick:
I'll watch the NIT if I have trouble sleeping--do we really need to know whose the 69th or whatever team in country.
How about a commentary on the firing of Capel--is it about a time to drop the program and put more revenue into FOOTBALL?!!

It has been sad to watch the destruction of TU basketball. But how often can you find a coach who doesn't bolt for supposedly greener pastures after a little success? I'm not TU alum, but I'd coach forever if given the opportunity. I love being David to Goliath.

No major college would ever hire Wojo to be head coach...never.

The big tout on the local sports talk shows is how Scott Sutton would be a great hire at OU.

Really?

And why would that be?

Has he ever, for example, won a single meaningful game? Had a good year?

This explains the station's rating of zero.

Pick:
You ask why would Scott Sutton be a great hire. In this state, you got to think outside of the box when it comes to basketball, especially Sooners basketball, because of a lack in interest. Few good coaches want to come to OU because FOOTBALL is always going to be the bell cow, and that's not going to change. But if OU hires Scott Sutton, Bedlam BB just got more interesting with added fuel to the fire.
And it not Scott Sutton, why not hire/promote Sheri Coale, and create some real national Buzz--these potential candidates to replace Capel make me long for SPRING FOOTBALL, which begins next week in Norman.

Did Texas 'pulverise" Oakland by 3 or 4???
