TU Expected Better and Got It

Tulsa expected to be better against Tulane and it was considerably better.
Of course, one should be better against the Green Wave than against Oklahoma, the No. 1 team in the country.
TU did not play well in the first half but got settled down just before halftime, for a 10-3 lead, and then pulled away for an easy 31-3 victory on Saturday at the Louisiana Superdome.
Part of it was just getting comfortable with new players on an offense with G.J. Kinne, Tulsa’s terrific quarterback.
The improved offense allowed TU’s defense to get some rest and the Hurricane was much better defending the Green Wave.
All of this was expected. Tulane isn’t very good.
Yet, after Tulsa was hammered at OU, the Hurricane needed something good to happen.
The next two weeks are full of similar challenges - Oklahoma State at Tulsa on Saturday and then a trip the Boise State.
That is three top 10 teams in the first four weeks.
So, getting the expected victory at Tulane was critical.
It keeps the Hurricane on pace for its number one goal - win Conference USA.
