TU Scores

TU doesn't get enough credit.

Just look what it has to overcome.

1. Size.

More people probably play slots in a big Indian casino on an average night than are enrolled at TU. Some foes probably have more PE majors than TU has seniors.

2. Lofty standards.

This is a little over-hyped. Even ritzy schools can get some real dummies enrolled.

But on the whole, getting admitted and staying in TU is a lot harder than is the case at other schools, who shall remain nameless while graduating less than half of its players.

3. Finances/recruiting.

TU coaches have to work harder.

And coaches who do well can sometimes make twice as much money elsewhere.

4. The perception of a puny conference.

Like the Tens are anything special, Pac and Big?

5. The electronic media.

Too often, local TV stations run stories of TU winning in the third new slot.

The Oklahoma City radio and TV yahoos look down their noses at TU: Oh, aren't they cute, scoring all those points. Now let's go live to see what Bob's having for lunch.

If the TU basketball teams wants to beat mighty OU here this fall, you'll hear no complaint from us.

Getting back to the football team, the Arkansas game looks worrisome. First, the refs wear hog hats. Next, the TU D bends something like a Slinky.

But with its entertaining offense, this team is a national attraction. It is on ESPN Sunday night, opposite a dog pro game nobody should watch.

Here's something else newsworthy. Not to jinx anybody, but it appears that good people are playing the games at TU.

Granted, TU has some challenges. And they've hit consecutive home runs with the last 2 head coaches. And it is interesting how they manage to stay Div 1 with a smaller enrollment than UCO....

TU is definitely having a good all around year. However, I believe they should have kept the Texas Tech game. The money/exposure they got by playing Arkansas would be dwarfed by the buzz they would have now had they beaten TX Tech. A BCS bowl would be easier to obtain, at least.

TU fans are dreaming if they think TU is good enought to play in a BCS Bowl. Can you say Hawaii?

You need to at least have a defense that can stop a good team. TU's defense cannot stop bad teams...what would USC, Alabama, OSU, Penn State, OU or Texas do the TU quarterback...plant him under in the first or second quarter!

Excellent observations. TU does more with less than any other D1 school. Wish OKC stations would wake up.

Stacy, you miss a point in that TU's offense is designed to move the ball quickly out of the QB's hands and to keep the defense off balance. On top of that, TU's O-line is one of the best in the nation and the last time I remembered, Brennan Marion is still running right on by the OU D-backs...oh, and now he has Damaris Johnson running back kicks. I'm not saying TU is going to beat any of those teams, but they are certainly better equipped to handle it...and the offense is more potent than Hawai'i was last year. Besides Stacy, who thought that Boise St. would even be in the game against OU, let alone win?

Yet Hawaii WAS good enough to play in a BCS game...not good enough to win one, of course.

Sounds alot like OU. Good enough to play in a BCS bowl but not good enough to win of course!

Anybody seen Cyco?

This frequent and capable contributor has been quiet since I announced that OU was 10-1 against winning a national championship.

After the Texas victory, there is a strong possibility Cyco owes me food.

He's not the first to lose a grub wager here, and won't be the last.

And, OU still has a chance if 78 things happen just so.

Hey Stacy, here's a suggestion...change your name to JEALOUSY!!!

I love seeing the OSU boys squirm at the thought of TU playing in a BCS bowl. When you were asking what would "OSU" do to the TU quarterback, I hope you were talking about Ohio State!

TU would absolutely roll Oklahoma State's defense...sure OSU would score a lot as well, but David Johnson would wear out the OSU to the tune of about 400 yards passing in addition to about 300 yards TU would rush for. You people just don't get it...THAT OFFENSE IS LEGIT STUFF and is the best offense in America on any level of college football, BCS, SBC, AT&T, SEC, FBS whatever you want, it's simply the best offense on the college level in 2008...deal with it and get crushed if you have the cohones to play them.

Dear RR,

Would TU "roll" OSU just like they rolled SMU?

Come on now, you are way out of your element on here. TU is a good team but couldn't beat OSU, sorry.

Play a team that is actually going to be in the top 75, then we can talk.

Until then, keep rolling up 70 points against UTEP and SMU, oops you almost lost to SMU.

I am excited that all three Oklahoma teams are ranked, and they are ranked accordingly.

TU figures to be an underdog at Arkansas on the short week turnaround.

Any debate on how good the team really is will be settled there, and at Houston.

World Picker:

Your analysis of TU football is a joke. You are the TW's version of Lou Holtz and you should be fired.

1.Total enrollment has little to do with quality football. If it did then all the Big 10 teams would be better.
The student body doen't suit up on Saturdays.

2. Lofty standards. It is an over hyped myth that it is materially harder to get into and stay in TU than any other state school. You do not know what you are talking about.
Lack of emphasis on and resources committed to football is a factor.

3. TU coaches do not work any harder than any other college coach. This is just more of your stupid crap.
Parity, via scholarship limits, levelled the playing field in that regard.

4. Perception of a puny conference. It is not a perception, you idiot. It actually is a puny conference.

5. The electronic media. Give us all a break on your EM obsession, World Picker.
You blame it more than OU homers blame the refs for OU losses.

Class warfare type whinning is not going to make your lame arguments credible.

Dear compulsive liar and ignorant bigot:

I owe you nothing. You are dreaming.
You are trying to change the subject and deflect criticism of your lame article.

It won't work. You should know better than to try to kill the messinger that brings you bad news.

Do you want to bet $1,000 that you don't owe me your side of the OU-Colorado wager last year?

Nit Picker (4 years ago)
World Picker: I know you know I never predicted an OU blowout against Colorado last year and moreover never bet you OU would blow out Colorado-which is the bet you claim. Yet you continue to beat that dead horse. In any event I doubt you could scrape up $1000, chump. TW doesn't pay that much.

Besides, I already caught you cheating by changing your picks after publishing your blog. So why would I trust anything you say?

Go back to your three team parlays and office pools.
