TU is Dreaming Big
Published: 8/4/2008 1:50 PM

Tulsa has been talking a lot about winning all of its games, winning Conference USA and going to a BCS bowl game.
That's all fine and good. Everyone should have high expectations.
However, this is pretty much the same team that was on the verge of losing to SMU at home last year.
But Tulsa is in the same boat with about half the teams in Conference USA. About half the teams could win the conference or finish in the lower division.
There doesn't seem to be a huge difference in about six of the teams.
Playing hard every week, and not letting someone like SMU sneak up on you, will determine the Conference USA champ.
At this point, Tulsa looks as capable as anyone in the league.l
But, as we've learned in college football over the years, nothing is guaranteed. Road games can be difficult regardless of the team. And, on any given Saturday, someone like SMU can beat you.
But, there's nothing wrong with dreaming big.

How funny will it be if TU makes it to a BCS Bowl before OSU does. That would be awesome!

So if TU goes to a BCS bowl game and just about anyone can beat them in the conference, does that mean C-USA is better an advertised by Lou Holtz, Dean Blevins and the other BCS jock strap holders?

As an OSU alum and fan, and a TU fan, I hope Tulsa wins all its games...I think they are certainly capable. They just need good QB play from Johnson who showed a few seasons back that he has some skills.

I think he will do well and TU certainly has some good RBs and wideouts. Why not undefeated regular season? It's a good goal for TU's players to strive towards. One game at a time, fellas!

You said "On the verge of losing to SMU at home last year". ...BUT...DID...NOT !!!. I say that they "held SMU on downs inside the 5 in the 4th Q and then drove the length of the field for the winning TD. I prefer to take your half empty glass and FILL IT UP. If TU can continue that type of effort they will have an outstanding year.
