TU's Routine 48-43 Victory

Tulsa's 48-43 victory over Rice says everything you need to know about modern college football.
There doesn't seem to be anything routine or ordinary about college football games these days.
Just a few years ago, no one could have imagined a team getting 101 plays and 700 yards in a game.
Yet, that's exactly what happened and Rice lost the game.
Tulsa's victory over Rice, to clinch the Conference USA West Division title and a spot in the league's championship, was exactly what we've come to expect in college football this season.
There were 66 first downs and 1,292 yards of offense.
Just another day at the office for college football teams.
In an era when teams have to score, and score a lot to win, Tulsa has one of the best offensive machines.
A great quarterback is the key and Paul Smith was again at his best at Rice. Of course, anything else and Tulsa would have lost.
Now, it is off to Central Florida for the C-USA title game. And, you can pretty much count on a shootout.
Forty points probably gets you in the game. And, fifty might win it.
Either way, you better keep scoring all the way to the end just like TU did at Rice.

Way to go Tulsa! At least your offense can overcome your defensive shortcomings, unlike this other team in Oklahoma (OSU). Good luck Saturday against UCF! Hope you can win 11 games!

Two dropped balls and failure to use Adams to run ball in with two chances at the 2 yard line or throwing the ball is all that kept TU from putting another 21 points up. Defense was doing ok until they fell back to relying solely on 3 man defensive line which gave the little QB all the time in the world. Would love to know why TU's def co-ord did that.

I'm going to use this to congratulate TU and I'm pretty sure they will have a game plan to beat UCF this Saturday. I am now going to use this as a forum to rip Dean Blevins...take your head out of David Boren's Crimson Colored ASS. Someone please pass this along that I am never going to watch the Oklahoma Sports Blitz again! It needs to be renamed the OU Sports Blitz...it doesn't need to be shown on this side of the state. Someone step up and start telling everyone about Paul Smith...Dean Blevins thinks that the only true football players in OK play for OU...sorry Dean-O, OU and OSU would love to have Paul Smith as their QB. Hate to tell you, but someone will catch on to Sam Bradford's point-and-throw technique and start jumping routes. Bradford couldn't read a defense any better than a dictionary.
My only question to John Holcomb is, how can you stand to work with that idiot?

I think even the World could give TU better coverage but not at expense of OU or even OSU. All the teams have great players and have been moerately to very successful. I believe that Bradford does rival Smith, both are awesome in a field of great QBs this year. Defense is lacking everywhere in collegent play but not in players, it is in coaching. What are the defensive coordinators doing to stop this variety of offenses that are coming their way? Too little. We need some innovation from these guys.

Hey Randolph and Patterson, the 3 man defensive front is NOT working! It hasn't all season. And I'm the millionth person to bring this up. We don't have the personnel for a 3-3-5. Our DB's are OK, but nobody can cover when the QB has all day to throw. We need pressure to disrupt Kyle Israel and force mistakes. That's is exactly what they did to us in the first UCF game (4 frickin picks). Put John Bell or Karatapyan as a 4th linemen, or something.
