TU's Season Tied to Johnson's Future

Damaris Johnson remains suspended for now but Tulsa coach Bill Blankenship left all the doors open on Monday.
Johnson is Tulsa’s best player and his continued suspension would have a huge impact on TU’s football season.
At the same time, there would appear to be far too many questions about what he did or did not do in allegations of embezzlement involving a friend.
Whatever he did or did not do, there is plenty of smoke and uncertainty to make Blankenship fearful of what could happen if he returned to the team before he knows all of the facts.
Blankenship is doing the right thing for now. He has to be safe and make sure Johnson’s eligibility is not in question before returning him to the field.
Johnson is a difference-maker for the season. He is good for a couple of victories because of not only his receiving talents but his kick return ability.
Yet, Johnson apparently put himself in limbo.
This could last a few more days or the entire season.
At this point, we haven’t learned enough, and apparently neither has Blankenship, to form an opinion about what is the best path forward.
