The Barkley Question
Published: 2/24/2012 12:49 PM
Last Modified: 2/24/2012 12:49 PM

There is much to like about Charles Barkley, namely his belief that Skip Bayless is the biggest punk in sports history.

But the TNT NBA show is not as good as it used to be with the addition of Mumbles, Shaq. It is over-produced and tries too hard to be cute.

And Barkley won't shut up about how he thinks the Thunder won't win the west because of a lack of inside scoring.

We were the first to say Perkins is a near-flop. He can't score a lick. But he is tough and can defend until he picks up the fifth foul.

Barkley's point about a lack of easy inside points seems less authentic by the day. Isn't a Durant dunk an easy inside basket? Isn't a Westbrook dunk an easy two? The centers aren't dunking. But everybody else is. So Barkley needs to quit trying to be controversial and watch the games.

He picks San Antonio to win the west. Elderly Tim Duncan can win a seven-game series at OKC?

A tough assignment.

Barkley was much better when he was tubby.

These are the same thought posted almost every blog. Shaq=mumbles and Barkley was funnier before he lost weight.

I guess the Picker can't come up with anything new to write about.

Here are two new things, you're lost, and OKC is the best in the west.

LaffALot, I consistently find your posts have the worst ratio of attempts at humor to actual humor on this website.

Humor? Nothing’s funnier than watching
the Jerry Springer ‘Gooner fan contingent
defend their beloved Bloomers.
Oh, to admit they might be average
just scares the “bleep” out of them.

I'm not sure why you feel a need to tie OU into this completely unrelated article, but I can assure you my day is less interesting having read your posts.

BOOMER, I tried to express to laff a little how unfunny his posts are. I stopped trying and now just completely skip them.

Laff, OKC is on the verge of big history.
Gregory House is a joke and is mercifully going off the air.

There are not very many true centers that can put up big points in the NBA anymore. There's a lot more speed on the inside, which is why you have small forwards and power forwards (and even guards) getting a lot of your easy inside baskets. Gone are the Shaq and Kareem type of big men. For example, Chris Bosh of the Heat is more of a small/power forward then a center. IMHO, the days of the true center could very well be numbered.
