The Bowls and C-USA

The bowl system may have survived the switch to the four-team college football playoff.
However, there’s little question there are major changes coming to the bowls.
There will be six major bowls on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in the new format along with a championship game a week to 10 days later.
What all of that means to the other bowls is to be seen.
One has to wonder what will happen to leagues like Conference USA.
C-USA is home to the University of Tulsa.
Will Conference USA’s champ wind up in one of those six major bowls? Will the conference have a tie-in with a bowl for its champion?
Will there be some new bowl alliances for Conference USA?
Those questions are still up in the air. And, what about the chances of a Conference USA team getting into one of the national semifinals?
It may be easy for the Big 12 Conference. Bowls will be begging to tie-in with the Big 12. They’ll take as many Big 12 teams as they can get.
However, what will happen to the smaller bowls and the non-power conferences remains to be determined over the next two years leading up to the four-team playoff in 2014.
