The Media Is Getting Very Sleepy
Published: 7/22/2010 3:35 PM

OU has been picked number one in the Big 12 South, making it the nation's most overrated team, dating back to that glorious time long, long ago when it defeated Florida State and that stiff of a quarterback to win the national title.

Some may wonder how OU could be rated ahead of Texas, which almost won a national title with a sub qb, with the following Sooner angles at play:

A quarterback who was not a road warrior.

No run game to speak of.

A questionable secondary.

A highlight win being a narrow bowl victory over an average Stanford team that didn't have its quarterback.

The quality schedule could break nicely for the Sooners: Cincy couldn't stop the Rufnecks. Florida State has no qb. AF is tiny.

Still, many across the nation wonder how OU is picked over Tex.

There can be only one answer: Stoops has hypnotized his media.

You're getting very sleepy. When you come to, you'll have a personalized text message from me, along with my cell number, and a secret blog about the hidden strengths of our team. If you discount the present, and are students of history, you will realize that our regime has competed on an even keep with the Longhorns. When you wake up, you will recall that this series runs in cycles and that our time has come. Now let's go have some barbecue and play some golf! Everybody wake up.

We're number one baby!

(Sorry if this posted twice, I didn't see it the first time)

The media should change the title of "Big 12 Pre-Season Prediction" to "...Uneducated Guess". Yes, they have been more right than not, but then again a certain octopus correctly guessed more World Cup Soccer results than most everyone else.

However, picking Baylor for last place is not an uneducated guess, it's a tradition.

Eh, it's really a toss up. Both QBs are somewhat inexperienced. Both have relatively young O-lines. Both lost key players on defense. One team has an injury prone running back and the other team doesn't have a running back at all.

I probably would have given the slight edge to OU as well.

I'm picking Texas to beat OU.

When was the last time OU wasn't overrated?

Pick, u are right but lets not act as if you've split the atom... overrated, overpaid, overhyped, overNiked. It comes with the territory, right? But then I figured you knew that. TCU nor Boise St will never get the hype nor will their coaches ever OU type pay but it could be intelligently argued that both are better programs than OU.

The problems with OU's offense last year
were no offensive line and no WRs
other than Ryan Broyles.
Stanford is average? Didn't Stanford rout
USC in LA last season? I'd consider Stanford
to be a good football team. The
Cardinal could win the Pac 10 this season.
