The Paper Beat Me Home Again
Published: 10/23/2011 11:58 AM

For the record, I’ved now sat through four hours, 50 minutes of rain delays this season.
Plus, my Tulsa World was in my driveway waiting for me when I got home on Sunday morning from Oklahoma’s 41-38 loss to Texas Tech.
That’s the second time this year the paper has beat me home this football season.
I don’t want to jinx the Tulsa-SMU game but that game has a chance to get me home at a decent hour for the first time this year.
Looking back at this season for me so far: Tulsa at OU (2:30 a.m.), Tulsa at Tulane (2:30 a.m. but it was Bourbon Street’s fault), OSU at Tulsa (4:30 a.m.), Missouri at OU (2:30 a.m.), Ball State at OU (1:45 a.m.), OU vs. Texas (10:30 p.m. after drive home from Dallas), OU at Kansas (1:30 a.m. to Lawrence hotel) and Texas Tech at OU (3:50 a.m.).
So far, I’ve seen start times of 12:16 a.m., 8:15 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.
Whatever happened to day games?
Finally, all three state schools play at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The game I’m writing about is less than two miles from my house.
I’m betting I’ll get to my driveway before my Tulsa World on Saturday.
But, just in case, I’m sleeping in Saturday morning. No ESPN Gameday for me.
