The Picker Apologizes
Published: 3/21/2008 4:54 PM
Last Modified: 3/21/2008 4:54 PM

Somebody e-mailed in to say that OSU broadcast team member/slash/KOTV sports anchor John Hokum (sp?) had cast aspersions on The Picker's sports acumen.

Somebody else e-mailed a question: Which of the following happens the most on the radio, Pat Jones mentioning the Oklahoma City sports Animal shows, or Bob Carpenter mentioning a famous acquaintance of his?

Our guess is a tie on the question.

The apology?

We once said that the local Sports Animal radio shows had ratings of zero. At least two listen. We apologize for the slight under-estimate.

The e-mailer forgot to add this to his question of which happens the most...Bob Carpenter mentioning Mazzio's.

I SEE AN OPENING HERE PICKER. YOU NEED TO BRANCH OUT TO TALK RADIO....

Jimbo: If they start paying more than a dozen doughnuts per day, The Picker would think about gracing the waves.

That, and the radio groupies, somebody said they don't spend much time on appearance.

Mr. Picker, in amongst all of your repentance and self-reproach could you tell us how you are doing in the March Madness contest?

While sports talk radio standards may be low, I for one cannot see those standards being obliterated, and thus allowing World Picker to crawl out of his hole and go live.
It will never happen. Not in my lifetime. Not ever.
Besides, World Picker is afraid of the radio. Just like my pet ferret is afraid of the vacuum cleaner.

I am not even associated with the media and I find it necessary to comment.

Funny. A guy who hides behind a cartoon photo is being critical of appearance.

Jay,
One would think you would update that sweet photo that runs with your column.

Nice hair. Two words.... SUPER CUTS. Definetly affordable for someone of your salary level.

And lets hope you will hit the mother load in 08, with more that the normal 10-12 responses to your crappy blog.

You blow.

Nit Picker...just curious...how often per day does your ferret feed you?

Nice pick on Miami. (Close don't count.) Nice.

NITWIITTER / NITPICKER, When did you get out of jail?

Now that OU, OSU and ORU have been properly "schooled" in the fine art of basketball, I would be interested in hearing the excduses of their fans . . . those who are left. If you would like to see more college hoops, there is a game tonight here in Tulsa and tickets are available.

Attention punks: Flip back to the basketball points and picks: overrated, OU, Gonzaga, Pitt!

Possible upset, Miami over Texas.

Sleeper: Wisconsin.

In other words, I was right again on about everything ho-hum.

Speaking of punks, where is the punk who said Miami wouldn't get out of the first round.

Top pick this week: Memphis to stomp on Michigan State.

Kiss your inheritance goodbye, chump.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
