The Rule is a Rule

It may not seem fair, and fans in Phoenix and around the country are not happy, with a ruling that stripped the Suns of their two interior players for game 6 of the playoff series with San Antonio.
It seems unfair because the incident that caused the Suns to lose their two post players was sparked by a hip check from a San Antonio player.
The Spurs player got a two-game suspension. The two Suns lost one game.
it was enough for San Antonio to win at Phoenix on Wednesday night and set up a potential series-winning game at San Antonio on Friday.
Not fair? Bull. Everyone knows the rule. You come off the bench in a potential fight and you are gone.
Everyone knows the rule. You break it you get the automatic suspension.
It may not seem fair in this instance but it is the rule. You can't make exceptions or you open the door to all types of abuse.
So, sorry to the Suns. The rule may cost you the series. Perhaps seat belts are needed on the bench.

With not much more than a handful of exceptions, the NBA is nothing more than "Thug City" so this incident should come as no surprise.

Rules are meant for other people, not for the punks that populate this joke of a sport.

Bottom line? Who cares?

John I think you have this one dead wrong. The rule is specific to "leave the bench during a fight." There was no fight, in fact neither ventured any further onto the court than Tim Duncan did earlier in the same contest. But citing a "lack of incident" that occurrence was excused. The bottom line here is clear: A team that starts an altercation should not benefit from the altercation. Horry should have been tossed for the series. To suspend Stoudemire (there is a slight argument for his suspension) and Diaw (Looking at the video his suspension was complete BS) for "leaving the bench" when their star PG was slammed into press row (next to their bench, no less) is insane and worse, it promotes that kind of dirty and inexplicable play. If the Spurs win this series on a thug play like that, it will be a severe black-eye to the NBA and will invalidate the playoffs.

That is the rule...so be it if they have to be suspended. The biggest problem lies in the fact that a hip checking a player intentionally on the court is only twice as bad as standing up from you chair and taking a stroll on the court. That's where the injustice lies.
