The Sooners salute Michael Jackson

Reason No. 144 that Gerald McCoy is one of the coolest athletes I've covered in eight years on the Oklahoma beat: He stepped into the middle of OU's stretching formation Monday night, danced a few steps to Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean," then turned and bowed to the fans watching nearby.

By the way, major props to whoever it was that decided to start the Sooners' playlist with some of Jackson's best "Thriller" and "Off the Wall" stuff. McCoy wasn't the only one to get into it; freshman quarterback Drew Allen danced about as well as a white guy in pads can to "Rock with You," and walk-on Rashad Hutchins followed McCoy with a mini-moonwalk.

The rest of the soundtrack, at least in the hour that fans and media were invited, was strictly "Jock Jams." If that's the norm, I can't believe Sam Bradford hasn't overthrown someone for the purpose of wiping out the speakers. This is a football team in desperate need of some Wu-Tang Clan. Maybe a little Eric B and Rakim, some De La Soul from back in the day. And some Beasties for Allen.

I think this is a first. A blog about the music played during warm-ups. Enjoyed the blog.
