The Summer of Our Disconnect

What to do, what to do.

American golfers stink. Others have won the last five majors. Americans are too busy making goofy videos to win tournaments. Tiger might hit a few fairways at the British Open by aiming at the ocean. Grinning Phil, the head pro at Stepford Country Club, appears about ready to crack.

Tennis? Outside of the Williams seniors, it's all foreign to us.

Baseball is boring.

The Shock needs rewiring.

The Thunder drafts 24th, where D-leaguers hang out.

Radio sports talk ratings plunge below zero, which happens when people irate with the repitition begin breaking their radios. Sports reports on local TV last two minutes.

Summer just began.

Will it never end?

Wait. Here's something. Somebody just sent the composite college football schedule. On the opening weekend, Sept. 3, look what's up beyond Tulsa at OU: Saturday night at 7 p.m. central, Boise State is at Georgia, and Oregon and LSU play in Dallas!

Anybody could talk about stuff that good for ten weeks.

Dec 3rd? Opening weekend runs late this year...

Oops, Sept. 3.

There are still people listening to sports talk radio? I suppose they are still talking about how dominant the Big 12 is in football. Oops...if they were half as good as folks around here believe, then they would have won the last 5 BCS championships instead of the SEC.

Right, JCD1978. If only OU had outbid Auburn for Cam Newton's services...

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
