The final Bradford-McCoy moment was one to savor

Really cool scene down on the Cotton Bowl field after Saturday's final gun.

Sam Bradford was walking toward the tunnel, his head down when Colt McCoy came running up to him from behind, moving about as fast as he did in pursuit of Brian Jackson after that late interception. McCoy caught his friend and counterpart in the end zone, embraced him and talked to him for nearly a minute before being besieged by television cameras.

The Sooners' Gerald McCoy and Auston English both stood and waited for McCoy to finish his interviews, then offered their own hugs and congratulations. Finally, McCoy headed back toward his teammates celebrating with the Longhorn masses at the opposite end of the stadium, but not before stopping for one last embrace with OU tackle Trent Williams.

Don't know if that will make Sooner diehards feel better about Saturday's loss, or their team's 3-3 record, but thought it was worth some space. Meantime, here's more reaction out of Austin, from American-Statesman columnist Kirk Bohls:

"Oklahoma, with its dynamite front line, may be the best 3-3 team in college football history. Major props to Bob Stoops and defensive coordinator Brent Venables for their gameplan...

"Classy move by injured quarterback Sam Bradford to show up at the postgame press conference and take questions after maybe the most difficult time of his career...

"The best player on the Cotton Bowl floor on Saturday with the brightest future was Sooners defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. The guy's a beast."

I agree with your blog. As much as we fight each other on the field, it is nice to know and see that once the battle is done, the friendships reamin.

Very interesting blog. I don’t have to agree to respect your attempt to look for some positives after another breakdown of fundamental football.
The basic things such as hanging on to the ball and once again (not) having any number 2 or number 3 guys ready to step up and fill the gaps as 3 and 4 star rated players should be able to do!
I would point out that Florida and USC (appear) to not miss a beat when a guy goes down and another comes in (for the most part). Texas gave us every chance to win with their own mistakes. As I have stated before. OU's running game is a B- when they line up against the Baylor's of the world and our running game gets a,,,, D grade when we line up against someone solid like Texas. Bob says today that the season is not lost. I agree! The players we have left that can play need to dig down deep and re-discover the talent and skill and attitude that made them great players in high school and re-dedicate themselves to playing like champions...today!!!
Good luck Sooners you can still have a very good season and a bowl game.. but… Good bye to another assistant coach as will be the case come the end of the year.

That did make me feel better in some way. I was more devastated by the re-injury to Bradford than I was about the loss. Very big of McCoy to chase him down first thing after the game. It's just not our year.

I hate Texas!!! I think Mack Brown is a cry baby. However, it pains me to write this, but I like Colt McCoy. He is a class act. I have seen him interviewed many times and he always comes across as a good kid who has his head screwed on straight. The way he acted after the game proved that he is a man of character. I wish him the best! Now with that being said... I hope we win out and they lose 2 games.
