This was an important recruiting weekend for the Oklahoma State football program, and the Cowboys reportedly netted three commitments.
Expressing their intent to sign with OSU in February are three junior college recruits: running back Beau Johnson of Butler County (Kan) community College, safety Lucien Antoine of Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College and offensive lineman Andrew Mitchell of Snow College in Utah.
Johnson, who rushed for 288 yards in Butler's juco national championship triumph over Snow, is rated by Scout.com as a four-star recruit. A native of Lawrenceville, Ga., the 5-foot-11, 210-pound Johnson finished the season with 1,756 rushing yards (6.7 per attempt) and 19 TDs.
Before expressing his commitment to O-State, Johnson said he had been recruited also by Kansas, Kentucky, Iowa State and TCU.
Two years ago, OSU successfully recruited a Georgia native from the juco level. He turned out to a dynamic tailback -- Dantrell Savage, an All-Big 12 first-team selection.
OSU's commitment list has increased to 22 names, but only one -- Justin Williams of South Grand Prairie (Texas) High School -- is a defensive tackle. Cowboy fans are painfully aware of the need for a talent upgrade within the defensive interior.
