The transformation of Kye Staley; from 241 pounds to 212

STILLWATER -- In about 100 days, Oklahoma State running back Kye Staley completely redefined his physique.

Having not seen Staley since spring practice ended in April, I was amazed at his transformation. A redshirt freshman from Guthrie, he weighed 241 pounds during the spring. Coach Mike Gundy hinted that Staley might have gotten too heavy to play running back, and there was talk of a possible move to linebacker or defensive end.

By eliminating root beer, Sprite and late-night snacks from his diet, and by running extra sprints every day during the offseason, Staley dropped to 205 pounds. As of Thursday, he weighed 212. His quickness and speed have been restored, and he now looks capable of becoming a Big 12 playmaker.

In my years of covering college football, it's the most impressive example of an April-to-August physical improvement that I've ever seen.

That is simply ridiculous! He must have worked extremely hard to lose nearly 40 pounds in a little over three months. I haven't seen him since the transformation but I'm sure he is as solid as a rock!
