Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!
Let's hear it for Grant Ramey of the Tennessee Journalist, who becomes the first writer/blogger/comedian of the season to link Bob Stoops to a coaching job he'd never take in a patrillion years.
The job is Tennessee's, or will be Tennessee's, assuming Phil Fulmer is asked to vacate the premises between now and the end of 2008.
Mr. Ramey likes Jon Gruden, Pete Carroll, Bronco Mendenhall, Greg Schiano, Chris Peterson, Jim Leavitt and Will Muschamp for the job that isn't open yet.
Oh, and Stoops, too...
"The price would have to be right, and high. But with what Stoops has done at Oklahoma begs an offer. Stoops has SEC ties with Florida so it may be feasible to get back to the conference of his coaching roots. Imagine a Stoops/Pearl combination in men's athletics."
While you're at it, imagine a Stoops/Roy Clark combination in a "Hee Haw" revival. There's as good a chance of that happening.
