Three Victories and No injuries

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State don’t figure to face manhy challenges, if any, in season openers on Saturday.
Tulsa may have too many challenges at Iowa State.
Yet, we could learn a few things about the Sooners and Cowboys and a whole lot of things about the Golden Hurricane.
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops has been talking a lot about new faces at running back and receiver the past two weeks. Although OU probably doesn’t need to tip its hand, Stoops has never been shy about using his top players in games that get out of hand early.
UTEP may hope OU pulls off early but that isn’t likely to happen. Instead, we’ll probably get a good idea about the health of Dom Whaley and how good Damien Williams can be at running back. We’ll get plenty of looks at the handful of new receivers that OU hopes will replace Ryan Broyles.
Meanwhile, it is pretty evident right up front the big story in Stillwater. West Lunt is 18-years-old and is the starting quarterback at Oklahoma State. That’s enough to keep folks in their seats past the first quarter in Stillwater.
We might not learn a whole lot about Lunt. He probably faces far better defenders in practice every day than he will against Savannah State.
Still, how a teenager reacts to the bright lights and big crowds of major college football is always interesting.
Meanwhile, everything will be on the line at Iowa State for the Hurricane.
Tulsa needs to know how Cody Green will play at quarterback. Most feel he’ll be plenty comfortable. He’s actually started at quarterback at Iowa State in the past (for Nebraska).
Tulsa has a handful of new receivers who have shined in preseason drills, solid running backs and a very experienced defense.
Tulsa is favored for a reason and if it avoids a sloppy game on offense (turnovers) it should win.
Two lopsided victories, a solid but close victory and no injuries would make for a good opening weekend for Oklahoma’s major college football teams.
