We have just finished watching the OU-TU game and are trying to identify what we just witnessed.

The announcer on the nationally televisied game said the teams were "offensively challenged."

He was too nice.

The final score was OU 58, TU 48. With a nation watching, it's always a good idea to score at least 50.

It was like a volleyball game without a net.

TU looked tight, scared, lost.

We will now operate on the premise that if you can't say anything nice about a single thing you just saw, move along.

Concerning Union: High school football has gotten so big, they should pay the players.

Concerning Arkansas football: Looks like Nutt caved in, he's playing Mom's boy on the third series!

Concerning OU womens' basketball: That team lacks quickness to be a final four entry.

Concerning OU runner Peterson: Check the archives, we said long ago that his repeated injuries would make him a risky propostion in the draft.

Mr. Picker, I watched the TU "game" and also have difficulty when it comes to describing it. The announcers said it was basketball . . .so it could have been. The media will surely call it a defensive "struggle" but I'm not sure it comes up to that level. Perhaps it was two teams searching for an identity and the search goes on.

I also think the Union fiasco is repugnant. When did the players get a vote? That situation was so mishandled that you would have thought our President was calling the shots.

Best Wishes to you and your fans for the Holidays and may our teams win their Bowl games by large numbers of points.

The OU-TU hoops contest featured two teams that were nowhere near the level of the two teams playing in the nightcap. OU will struggle offensively all year long versus quality opponents. They lack experience and confidence in handling the rock under any kind of pressure. I don't know what the school record is for turnovers in a season, but I bet they break it.

TU seemed to give OU too much respect. I'm not sure how good they are, as that was the first time I've seen them play. But no doubt about it...two very average teams to put it nicely.

The OU women got dominated in the paint...pure and simple. Ohio State took Higgins away, and the rest of the Lady Sooners didn't shoot very well. They gave up way too many offensive rebounds as well. When Courtney picked up #4, it was all over.

Not sure where Peterson will go in the draft, but he'll certainly get a large sum of $$$ regardless. He better but a lot of it in a savings account somewhere with the running style he has, cause it won't let him stay healthy in the league for more than 5 years in my opinion.

TU's offense worked about as well as this blog this morning. That was TU's first game against a team with a pulse (and yes -- that is intended as a slight against ORU). We have some talent to work with, but I'm not sure we've figured out who our best 8 players are. Ramsdell needs to decide if he wants to stay in the starting lineup yesterday. Love the kid and want to see him win -- he's a liability if he's not trying to score and plays that kind of "toro" defense.

Completely off topic and off-season, but this is from ESPN.com:

"Ken Griffey Jr. has had more than his share of injury problems. But this time the Cincinnati Reds outfielder has suffered an injury off the field.

The team said Friday that Griffey suffered a broken left hand in an accident at home.

Griffey will remain in a hard cast until he is re-examined in about three weeks, the team said."

Is he made of glass? Of all his supposed greatness, he sure does get injured a lot. This is the worst yet.

First, TU needs to figure out how to get the basketball in bounds.

Next, TU needs to figure out how to run a play.

Losses like this are devastating and must be avoided at all costs. Losses like this cost backsides in the seats at home games.

Speaking of flat, did that Oregon football team really play OU close?

TAB: So you're pleased with the Michigan State style of offense?
TAB (6 years ago)
Happy? No. But I'm also realistic that TU has played a ridiculously easy schedule and that they'll lose road games to physical teams. This is a tough loss, but it's a young team that is fun to watch for the first time in years. We may live and die by Uzoh this year. I'd take that over losing by a bunch to Billy Tubbs-coached Lamar any day. Not sure we're Michigan State, either -- we push the ball. OU was the first team we played that actually fought back.

This year's TU team is very much a work in progress. We have quite a few young, athletic players who just need time to gel. While many TU fans want us to quickly get down to a 7-8 man rotation, I see this team as being one that is a "Conquest By Committee" sort of team. Look for them to be very, very good by tournament time.
