Ticket Shock?
Published: 5/4/2010 4:11 PM

Loan me a couple of c-notes and let's go see a Shock game.

The Jack Nicholson court-side seats are listed on the Shock website seating chart as going for $125.

Per.

Each.

Seats in the club section, with the most comfy chairs and restricted access to refreshments, go for $70 each.

Across the way, you can take a load off and see what the new team is all about for $39-$48.

Funky corner sections run $31 per.

Bleachers under one hoop cost $15. Seats behind the bleachers are listed as the cheapest in the place at $10.

$39 to $70 for the seats baseline to baseline?

Wow.

Forty minutes of hell could be the amount of time required for a fan to figure out how he or she is going to pay for these babies.

I'm not sure if the BOK Center will be even 1/4 full for the Shock games.

At least we now know why they're called "Shock".

The prices have the earmarks of a short-term stay for the Shock in T-Town. A long-term strategy would've had lower prices along with "fan specials" to get the crowds in and establish that base early on...oh well.

The satire is hilarious. Now, tell us what the REAL ticket prices are.

One can see real basketball at the other end of the turnpike for less - including gas and tolls. Prediction for the Shock? One and done.
But What Do I Know? (3 years ago)
Is this just a tax write off for the owners?

Buy the cheap seats & move up to the better ones once the game begins....

It might be tough at first because of ushers, but after a couple of games a lot of the ushers will be layed off & then it will be easy to relocate....

Maybe they'll run a special on the seats behind the seats behind the seats next to the loading dock.

Smallest market, some of the highest priced tickets...they better not lose a game.

I thought I might take in a game. Looks like they will take me in to the tune of big bucks, and bucks are deer, oops I mean dear to many people right now. What the hey are they thinking? Not musch I guess. RUN!!!

Has there ever a more doomed idea before it even started?? Let's see, people are being laid off, salaries are frozen, homes being foreclosed: the answer to this has gotta be to spend $150 for two seats to go watch 9th grade boys play basketball, I mean professional women...

They must hired Mike Holder (OSU AD) as a ticket pricing concultant!!
Tulsan in Exile (3 years ago)
I will attend if THEY pay ME $150, and provide free food and drinks. Even then, I will agree only to watch half a game of wimmin's basketball. Any more than that, and they will have to throw in a defibrillator and free SHOCK treatment.

LOL @ $70 for a club seat. The face value of some of the club seats at the Thunder games are $75, I believe. So you're telling me an NBA game is only worth $5 more than this pathetic product they call basketball? Enjoy while it lasts, those of you that care. It won't last long.
MexiMike (3 years ago)
Honestly, this doesn't bug me at all because I was never going to attend regardless of price.

Though, it is pretty funny that they can stamp the word "professional" to something and use that as justification for charging a ridiculous price for a subpar product.

When I lived in Denver during the 80's, I got to see NBA games regularly for $3-$5 on a TV special & without the special $8 games were readily available on the 2nd level....

The only time I spent more than $20 was when the Lakers came to town & the 1984 All-Star game ($25)....

That was a little over 25 years ago, my how times have changed.... I loved those $15 1st level Bronco tickets, but you had to know someone with an extra ticket available....
dcood (3 years ago)
tulsadn: this just in, you can get crappy upper level Thunder seats for $10...

The Shock is going to be easy to write headlines about.

Here's a good one for this subject.

Sticker Shock.
