Time for Stoops to Step Up
Published: 4/16/2012 5:19 PM

There are 15-year old young people who have no idea that Bob Stoops won a national championship at OU.

Kids don't start remembering until they're around four.

But it's true, Stoops and the Sooners beat an overrated Florida State team back in the day, after State's best player, a receiver, was booted from the team.

And so now some OU fans are thinking:

We've had plenty of those conference championships over chumps.

We've had plenty of those secondary bowls.

This year's schedule is idea for making a serious run at a national title: Notre Dame in Norman, with a hot-head coach unable to find a quarterback. Mack has lost it in Austin. TCU was obliterated by a drug scandal. OSU with no quarterback. At Deliverance U. the last game will be very tough. The West Virginia quarterback can run but can't throw so well.

Brother Mike is back screaming and grabbing face masks and jerseys on the sideline.

Surely Heupel will call them better this year.

There's no pressure or anything. But how about we earn every one of those big bucks. It's been a long time since that big one.

I must admit Picker, every now and then you hit the mark.

An excellent blog showing the vast difference between the OU and OSU football programs. If OU doesn't win a national championship at least once a decade, the coach needs to step it up, if OSU doesn't win a national championship every... well...ever, no one really cares.

Here's to high expectations!

OU has as good a chance at a national title as anyone in the country. Win one.

Nothing worse than anonymous whiners...Jay Cronley often writes about how he can't stand anonymous whiners....Jay, you're RIGHT...nothing worse than anonymous whiners....

OU has played for more NCs (and lost more) than any other team this centry. Playing in a NC game is the goal of every school out there. Only two get to do it every year. OU does it pretty doggone often. One can see the jealousy of posters here when they beat up on the Sooners.
Pick is right though, it's time to come up with another NC. I just hope we dont have to play Alabama if we get that far.

Honestly, I have not figured out why soame peopleOU is expected to do so well next season! They loose their top 4-5 players on a suspicious D. They lost their top receiver. Their receivers laid a big goose egg in scoring after Broyles went down. They are still very questionable at running back. I logically do not see it!

See you got a new house Domo.

Stoops needs to win another one.

I think that it is time that he got back to coaching. To much time spent counting his money, talking to his stock broker or interior decorator. His complaining about the play calling the 1st half of the Ok St game set me off. Did he have any idea of the game plan?

I just hope that Sooner fans don't use the "we're one year away" or "they're a young team" excuses that they've used the past three years when they slip up each season.

After Landry Jones goes, the in-state school trend toward quarterbacks who run will be major disasters across the board.
