Tony Turnover

Tony Romo gets sacked against the Jets. JULIO CORTEZ/AP

Talk about one of our better nicknames.

People are defined by performance under pressure.

Romo equals nervousness.

He's great in the middle of the field. Near either end zone, he falls apart. Now he is apt to over-react and go into an ultra-conservative shell.

This might be a good time to think about buying an NFL game package. Just look at the area teams. The Rams stink. No catchers. Sam is sacked more than beans on sale. Kansas City is even worse.

In college news, the OSU-TU point spread is surprisingly low, opening in a number of joints below two touchdowns.

The worst coaching job in college football history belongs to character at Missouri, who iced his own kicker versus Arizona State. First, he refused to try to move the ball near the end zone. Then he called two time outs. Then the kicker duck hooked one into the band.

Listen, Penn State fans, it's at the point where you are doing JoPa a disservice. Nobody wants to remember one of the greatest ever coaching from home. Make a move. Your team isn't competitive.

The Big Ten stinks. There's not a quarterback in the league who could throw one into a tuba from five yards.

OU continues to pursue entry into a conference with which it has nothing in common, the west coast wackos. It will be an insult to loyal fans who will be asked to pile into the van on Wednesday in order to make a game in Utah. Which stinks.

The Florida State quarterback is average at best.

The OU-Florida State game will be decided by the performance of Venable's Bust Brothers, the secondary that gives up a couple or three long touchdowns per game, and Landry Jones, who has been nervous numerous times on the road.

Russell Wilson of Wisconsin is a pretty good quarterback. He holds the NCAA record for consecutive passes without an interception at 389.

too bad, so sad ou could own the big ten for a decade easy.

Wilson is good, far and away the best quarterback in a league of stiffs that lose to teams like Ball State. But Wisky's schedule is a joke, one of the worst in the history of college football, with N. Ill and S. Dakota due next. Wisky plays a one-game season, at home versus Nebraska.

Funny stuff Pick(JoPa coaching from home) But Dan Marino couldn't throw one from five yards into tuba. Maybe a Sousaphone.

It is amazing to me how many defenders Romo continues to find. (No, not the ones he finds with his noodle passes on the field. That doesn't surprise anybody.) I mean the people who defend his play, despite his attacks of PTSD (pre-touchdown stress disorder). In my 21 year career as a National Guard civil affairs officer, I worked in disaster preparedness, the number one rule of which is: "The best predictor of future disasters is past disasters." This makes Romo the most predictable Cowboy QB of all time. Message to Jerry: offer the Bagels three draft picks (which you would otherwise waste anyway) for Carson Palmer out of retirement. Or just start Kitna. He is a demonstrably better QB.

Jones has had his moments on the road Ill grant you that...but in his last 2 games away from Owen field, he has been outstanding (Big 12 championship and Fiesta(minus one bad pick). Like you said, OU's offense isnt the concern going into this great matchup. Dual threat guys usually not so great vs Sooners with the exception of Brad Smith @ Mizzou a few years back when he had about 500 yards...

I saw the Cowboys celebrating in the 4th qtr with Tony Turnover hugging "the Dude" as the head coach stood nearby smiling big on the sidelines....

I was thinking, wasn't it Papa Ryan who attacked an OC because he called pass plays instead of running out the clock which led to a turnover that put Ryan's defense in a tight spot ????

Didn't Romo & "the Dude" have a bromantic tiff last week or so ???? I wonder if we'll see any more Cowboy love on the sidelines between the two in the upcoming future ????

I watched NFL Redzone on Sunday because the Fox outlet down here doesn't broadcast in HD(isn't that against federal law) & I must say, I will pay $7 a month for that service.... For NFL fans with ADD, it's perfect, it's awesome, I'll be tuned in again next week & the following weeks afterward....

With the exception of Russell Wilson, I can't think of any good passing quarterbacks in the Big Ten. Michigan and Nebraska both have running quarterbacks. Denard at Mich. could be the next Michael Vick (hopefully, minus the criminal activity).

OU-FSU analysis makes sense. How many times have the Sooners been burned in the secondary on long bombs? Too many times to count. No wonder Coach V. is never in the running for any head coaching jobs. OU also has the previously fired Georgia defensive coach as their defensive backs coach. Not sure what sense that makes.

He looks good all week
But on game day in the crunch
He can't peak, he's weak

Robinson will never play QB in the NFL, hes 5'9" and about 185 pounds with an avg arm at best. You gotta remember, ND defense is quite like the Ravens or Jets...

First, OU is going to kill FlaSt...game will be over before halftime (and I'm not an OU fan at all). FlaSt has played 2 high school teams in running up big points, neither having anywhere near the speed or athleticism of OU.

Romo is awful, plain and simple. Garrett can't get rid of him because he's one of Jerry's kids. Cowboy fans need to be upset about the owner/GM. Jerry Jones has zero, 0, business being the GM. He's obviously too emotionally involved to make an objective decision about one of his busts.

Agree on the Big 10 (+2). It is a slow, weak conference. Wisconsin being the best team should be rated no higher than 15th nationally. Did anyone notice they beat UNLV by around 70 points. UNLV lost this week to Washington St, one of the perennial bottom 10 dwellers nationally by 60 or so points. Big 10 needs to rename itself the BIG AND SLOW Conference.

As for JoePa...Penn St is in a tough situation. They don't want to do to him what Florida State did to Bobby Bowden. Then again, it should be like taking a driver's license away from someone obviously too old to be behind the wheel. You start fearing for the lives of people walking on the sidewalks or in crowded pedestrian malls. Jo Paterno needs to realize that its time to hang up the walker when you need to use a walker to attend a schools pep rally.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
