With just one week left in college basketball's late signing period, it appears Oklahoma has settled on a class featuring Tommy Mason-Griffin, Keith "Tiny" Gallon, Steven Pledger, Andrew Fitzgerald and Kyle Hardrick. Jerry Meyer of Rivals ranks the Sooners' haul seventh nationally, behind (in order) Villanova, Texas, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, North Carolina and Kansas.
"The Sooners won a major recruiting battle to land Mason-Griffin, one of the best point guards in the country," Meyer writes. "He is the best point guard Jeff Capel has lured to Norman since taking over the program. Gallon, an AAU teammate with Mason-Griffin... gives the Sooners another big body down low. Pledger, a Virginia native, gives the team a legitimate threat on the perimeter. In-state commitment Hardrick has been committed to the school since 2006. Fitzgerald, a Baltimore native, is a big body that will have no trouble making the transition to Big 12 competition."
It's interesting that OU's class has moved up from No. 12 in Meyer's rankings through February, even though Capel hasn't signed anyone during the late period. He has one scholarship to offer, should he choose to do so in the coming week.
