Truck Racing? No Way

I can't believe there are people out there who are fans of truck racing.
I just don't get it. It would never dawn on me to buy tickets to see some pickup trucks run around a speedway track.
The last time I ever thought about truck racing was when I was in high school and it was always a race in our pickups from the high school to practice at the football stadium.
I was even involved in an incident involving my truck. I took a turn a little too fast and the door of my dad's 1958 Ford flew open. I flew out.
I suffered a few bruises and cuts on my leg but was ready to play by Friday.
So, I've never understood why people would want to pay to watch folks race pickup trucks.
It is easy to understand why NASCAR likes the idea of the Craftsman Truck Series, which races Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway.
It can tie the tickets to the truck race to the popular tickets for Nextel Cup and Busch Series races.
For instance, to get good tickets this weekend for the Sunday's Nextel Cup and Saturday's Busch Series races, a fan would have to buy a package that would include tickets to all three races.
Anything for a few extra bucks.
Still, even Friday night television looks to be a better option for me this weekend. I'll get some rest, drive down to see Oklahoma at Texas A&M football on Saturday, and then back up for Nextel Cup racing on Sunday.
I won't be watching any trucks race. I won't be racing any trucks.
Let me know when NASCAR adds a division for RVs. Pit stops with grills. Now, that's racin'.
