Tulsa Ready for Another Big Event

There has been much debate about how Tulsa will handle the NCAA Tournament that gets underway Friday at the BOK Center.
Relax.
Any city that has played host to seven major golf championships, two in the last decade, can handle a few basketball games.
People around here have worried about ticket sales (above average) and how the city will handle the influx of sports fans.
The answer to all of the questions will be just fine. Quit worrying.
Tulsa had the U.S. Open in 2001 and the PGA Championship in 2007. Not only are those international events but Tiger Woods was a central figure in both tournaments. In 2001, he came to Tulsa seeking his fifth straight major. He failed.
Then, in 2007, he won the PGA, his 13th major title. Woods has won just one more major since.
The NCAA Tournament is a big event and it is great to have it back in town.
The BOK Center is fabulous facility, one of the best in the country.
The University of Tulsa and Tulsa Sports Commission have plenty of experienced and talented folks working on this tournament.
Quit worrying. Everything will be fine. Enjoy the games.

just make sure out of town visitors understand that they may get robbed while being in Tulsa, I am sure the criminals are not going to take a vacation. Tell them not to accept any rides with strangers or go to places with the strangers or go home with them. Tell them to be very careful because cars do get broken into. Please use common sense and leave all your valuables at home

also tell them to be very careful crossing the streets, people do get ran over and killed

In other words, practice common sense and behave as you would in Boston, Austin, or Lawrence, KS?

Luckily in my 8 years I haven't experienced any of the things carolsue has mentioned. However I have chosen to stick my head out of my shell enough to have wonderful experiences and memories.
